Dear friends,
Could you use some fun new ways to engage with the children in your life?

My friend Gail Riley, proprietor of the award-winning Highland Haven Creekside Inn in Evergreen, CO, has just released her latest book Colorado Kids: The Art of Making Memories ($22.95, Highland Haven Press).
This beautifully-designed book is packed with captivating things to do with kids that will spark their curiosity, inspire their creativity, and develop their love for the outdoors and nature.
The book is divided in seasons, with craft projects, recipes, party ideas, decorations, nature hunts and inspirational quotes for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Within each chapter, several activities are tagged and designated as:
- Out of Doors – How to create a naturalists’ collection or go on a treasure hunt for items like feathers, seed pots, sticks and rocks
- Indoors – Ideas for hosting a tea party for your stuffed animals, or a Valentine’s Day party with heart-shaped sandwiches
- In the Kitchen – Kid-friendly, wholesome foods like homemade granola, salads and cookies
Artist Amy Kenney created the charming layouts and illustrations throughout the book.
With over 100 color photos and tons of ideas, Colorado Kids is an inspiring addition to any parent’s or grandparent’s library and makes a great gift. You can order the book here.

What’s one outdoor activity you always loved as a kid?
The giveaway is open to anyone with a U.S. shipping address, and will run through next Monday, May 18 at midnight MST. I’ll use Random.org to draw the lucky winner’s name on May 19th.
BIG thanks to Gail and Highland Haven Press for providing the book for this giveaway, and good luck!
Best always,
I loved making “dolls” out of hollyhock blossoms and buds.
Riding my bike!
Old fashioned sidewalk roller skating around the block
I loved using chalk on the side walks and making up new, more difficult, hopscotch patterns!
The one outdoor activity I loved as a kid was jumping with my skipping rope.
I loved riding my horse!
As a young girl I enjoyed walking through the woods behind my house to pick a variety of wildflowers, daffodils and jack in the pulpit.
