Giveaway: Win The New Frontier Cookbook

Thanks for SHARING!

Dear friends,

Do you ever read cookbooks like novels? I do, and The Pioneer Woman’s cookbooks are perfect when you’re in that cozy mood to read about food, cooking and cattle.

Ree Drummond’s latest, The New Frontier,* (William Morrow, publisher) is 384 pages of glorious recipes, colorful photos and amusing anecdotes of her life on the ranch with her husband Ladd, kids, farm animals and dogs.

In her friendly, approachable style, Ree offers recipes for the hearty meals and comfort food we’ve come to love. The book also includes some meatless and lower-carb options that reflect her current lifestyle.

You could win a brand-new hardback copy of this fun book, just in time for the cooler temperatures of autumn and hunkering down at home this winter. (UPDATE: This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to the winner, Laura S.)

Here are some of the photos and recipes that made me swoon.

Let’s just start with a GIANT cinnamon roll baked in a cast iron skillet. It’s finished off with an icing that contains butter, maple syrup and a dash of strong coffee. Yes, 100 times YES!

Fluffy homemade flapjacks bookend this hearty homemade bacon-egg-and-cheese breakfast sandwich:

Here’s another sandwich to dream about, featuring bread slices cooked “egg in a hole” style layered with tomato, lettuce, ham slices and pepper jack cheese:

Lettuce wraps and egg salad merge in a tasty, low-carb “eggs-plosion” of flavor:

A medley of Teriyaki Grilled Vegetables includes zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers, onion and asparagus:

Creamy Lemon Pasta with Pancetta and Peas is finished with a crispy browned breadcrumb topping:

Here’s a chocolate chunk cookie stuffed with a sweet, creamy peanut butter filling that I can’t wait to bake!

  1. Scrambled egg sandwich on wheat bread with mayo and mustard and a thin slice of cheddar cheese. My grandpa used to eat these for his evening supper. Good memories and a good sandwich.

  2. Gosh that’s a hard one because I live for cooler months and comfort food! I’ll go with a large baked potato, loaded! And I am just like you Eliza (shocking, I know) and love to sit down and read through a great cookbook like a novel!

  3. I’m crazy about sweets, and I try to limit myself to only special occasions. It’s hard to name only one fave, but a beautiful, thick piece of New York-style cheesecake is the first to come to mind. Yum! (And thank you for the concept of the Jan. Money Diet. It’s been a great experience for us!)

  4. My favorite comfort food is any soup. We are big soup eaters in our home. Not only is it frugal to make, you can always add to it. Hard times and good times. Plenty of vegetables and beans go a long way. God bless

  7. I live in Michigan but comfort means my Southern roots! Cornbread in a cast iron pan! Or maybe just a big bowl of grits with butter and salt. Warms up a winter night!

  8. My all-time favorite food is a bowl of cream of wheat with plenty of butter and sugar, a piece of bacon broken up into small pieces mixed in it. When I was a small child, 60+ years ago, my grandmother would park me in front of our black and white TV and let me watch cartoons as I ate that breakfast. Oh, the memories!
